The Rotary Club of Greater Chino Hills has six members who can be described as a unique group of professionals who are bound by a common thread of compassion for the less fortunate and belief in the values of humanitarian and volunteer service.
The Club members annually host a Multicultural Festival, usually in April, at the Chino Hills Community Center. The Festival showcases the culture of various national groups residing in Southern California and celebrates the diversity of people in the form of ethnic food, national dress, and entertainment. The event’s cultural program features artists performing native dances, songs and traditional musical instruments from the Korean, Chinese, Hispanic, Bulgarian, Filipino, Indian and Hawaiian cultures. This Festival is the Club’s signature event to raise funds for various local and international community projects.
Since its inception, the Club members focused their efforts on supporting education. Past recipients of the Club Foundation’s donations include the English as a Second Language Program at Wickman Elementary School, Chino Hills’ Boys Republic Culinary Apprenticeship Program, and the Native Filipino Dance Program of the Dalisay Filipino American Dance Company.
Last year, the Club members added the disease prevention and saving mothers and children as other areas of our focus. In 2024, our Club and the Rotary Club of Cavite Centro, Philippines secured a Global Grant to fund the purchase of a Lifeline ambulance for a hospital in Cavite, Philippines. In addition, the Club’s Foundation donated funds to the Rabies Vaccination and Eradication Project of the Philippine American Veterinary Medical Association in Samal Island, Davao, Philippines.
In 2019, the Club organized Interact Clubs at the Ayala High School and Chino Hills High School. Under the guidance of the Club, these young members develop leadership skills and discover the power of “Service Above Self” through the organization and completion of community service projects. An ongoing Interact project is the Roadside Clean-up of a stretch of road along Chino Hill’s Grand Avenue with Rotarians and the Chino Hills Boys Scout Troop #1776.
The main challenge faced by the club members is to grow its membership. We are reaching out to individuals who believe in humanitarian and volunteer service. Come to our Club’s in-person meetings held every 2nd Tuesday of the month, meet us and see what we do!
