The Rotary Club of La Verne, California, Inc. was established June 7, 1967, for the primary purpose of engaging as a service club. It also promotes social engagement, connections with an emphasis on community service. The Club was incorporated on September 27, 1967. The 50th Anniversary was celebrated with a glorious Golden Jubilee dinner at Hillcrest on October 26, 2017.
Our club partners with many organizations in community service projects: the City of La Verne, La Verne Chamber of Commerce, University of La Verne, Sowing Seeds for Life in La Verne, Crossroads, Inc. in Claremont, David and Margaret Family Services and Haynes Family of Programs, both in La Verne, La Verne Police and Fire Departments and Bonita Unified School District. Club members have done international service as members of medical teams in India, peace initiatives in the Middle East and home construction teams in Mexico.
The club’s local service projects and activities include: La Verne July 4th parade, Teacher Mini-Grants, Thanksgiving Food Bags, Senior Holiday luncheon and the annual Easter Egg Hunt. The club sponsors a State of the City Address in January and a State of the School District presentation in February.
In the club’s efforts to engage the youth, the club sponsors two (2) students to Rotary Youth Leadership Camp [RYLA] and Teen Leadership Camp [TLC]. It also participates in the District 5300 Music Competition. In addition, the scholarship committee interviews scholarship applicants in April and awards a 4-year scholarship to a deserving La Verne resident in the amount of $1000/year for up to 4 years- or $4,000 total.
